June 10 - July 29, 2018
in Davenport, Washington (travel, housing, and some meals provided).

 - Male, 28-35, Baritone/Tenor. AEA Guest Artist Tier II contract ($446/wk)
Will Parker - Male, 18-30, Tenor, strong mover/dancer. Non-union ($250/wk)

We are interested in seeing a wide range of performers for these roles. People of color, trans folk, immigrants/first-generation Americans, are others who bring unique backgrounds and perspectives to this community (see below) are encouraged to submit.

Wheatland Theatre Co. (formerly Davenport Theatrical) is the only nonprofit arts organization in Lincoln County, Washington. Lincoln County is 10,000 people spread out among eight small farm towns in an area twice the size of Rhode Island. It's the least ethnically, religiously, and politically diverse county in the state of Washington—and that's exactly why we think it's important to do theatre there.

Oklahoma! is the third production of our unique Guest Artist program, which brings a small handful of theatre artists to Lincoln County once a year to work alongside and mentor local volunteers. Oklahoma! is directed by Lee Mikeska-Gardner, artistic director of The Nora Theatre Company, a mid-sized Equity company in the Boston area and produced by Drew Kowalkowski, a NYC-based producer.

The performers that we cast as Curly and Will Parker will join a cast of local volunteers... mostly middle-aged farmers, teachers, and business owners—many of whom have never been onstage before. Davenport is five hours from the nearest professional theatre in Seattle. Bringing guest artists to this community helps us produce great theatre for our rural audiences, teaches valuable skills to the local volunteers, and gives our community members the experience to work alongside people they might not otherwise get to know in Eastern Washington. The right guest artists for this production must be enthusiastic about this project and comfortable working with company members of a wide range of experience levels.
